Alaska, Iowa, and Louisiana are the newest states to join PSYPACT in 2026. This workshop is intended to help psychologists in the newest states and psychologists in other states understand the requirements needed for them to participate in PSYPACT.

Zoom Upgrade: tentative. If we reach 300 registration we will upgrade to Zoom Webinar. The cost will be split per each state’s registration numbers.
Alaska Responsibilities:
- Provide a Zoom Meeting or Zoom webinar link if registration numbers reach 300+. Link will be sent by October 9th

SPTA’s responsibilities:
- Inform host state your SPTA will collaborate by Sept 15th so we can determine if we will upgrade to Zoom Webinar.
- Complete and submit the SPTA Webinar Agreement
- Approving the CE Application if they want to provide CE Certificates. Alaska will make an online CE Certificate Available if a SPTA does not wish to provide the CE Certificate
- Creating their own registration page and price. There will not be any pricing coordination – each SPTA will select pricing for online registrations on their own website. 100% of registration fees stay with your SPTA.
- An administrative fee of $1.50 per registrant;
- Send AK-PA your registration numbers on Sept 28 and Oct 5 so AK-PA can determine if we will upgrade to Zoom Webinar. Zoom link will be sent on October 9th.
- Send AK-PA one complete list of all their attendee names and email address (to be used for attendance verification only) on Oct 16th.
- If including the recording on your Learning Library, include this note: PSYPACT requirements may change after this recording, please contact PSYPACT directly for current requirements.
Who hosts the Zoom Workshop?
Alaska will host the Zoom event. If registration reports show participation at 300+ by October 9th we will upgrade to Zoom Webinar and charge a per person fee for the upgrade
Will the training be recorded for those that miss or post-event/self-study?
Yes. SPTAs are allowed to make the recording accessible to those that missed the event as well as add it to their webinar homestudy library.

Program Description

In an era of rapidly evolving technology, telepsychology has become an indispensable tool for expanding access to behavioral health services. However, this transformative modality brings with it a complex web of legal, ethical, and regulatory considerations that demand careful attention. This presentation will provide an in-depth overview of the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) and its implications for psychological practice in your state.
Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of PSYPACT’s structure, its benefits for practitioners and clients, and the regulatory considerations for cross-state telepsychology and temporary in-person practice. The session will highlight recent developments, practical steps for psychologists to participate in PSYPACT, and strategies to maximize the opportunities PSYPACT offers. Ample time will be allotted for discussion of common challenges, ethical considerations, and attendee questions.
Program Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will be able to:
- Attendees will be able to discuss the implications of cross-jurisdictional practice, including what an interstate compact is (and one example of a compact).
- Attendees will be able to describe PSYPACT and two things that it allows psychologists to do to ethically and legally practice according to regulations, and what the governing documents for PSYPACT are, and where to locate them.
- Attendees will be able to explain the potential consequences of non-compliance with legal and ethical standards in telepsychology, including disciplinary actions, risk of enforcement, and other penalties (e.g., audits, investigations).
About the presenter:
Janet Orwig, MBA, CAE, has led the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) as its executive director since 2015. In her position with the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), she supports the Compact’s governing body, the PSYPACT Commission. Janet manages the day-to-day operations of PSYPACT, including implementing compact and regulatory compliance. She plays an integral part in developing new services and programs, securing and managing large government grants, and furthering stakeholder relations. Her 28-year career in association management includes experience in customer service, communications, public relations, advocacy, strategic planning and implementation, leadership development, and project and program management. Janet earned her Paralegal Certificate and bachelor’s in business administration from Huntingdon College and her MBA from the University of Phoenix. She is a Certified Association Executive.
