Along with the annual business meeting and continuing education event, we often have an awards banquet to recognize excellence and celebrate our colleagueship.  Among the awards are the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Achievement of a Lifetime Award, the Cultural Humanitarian Award, the Friend of Psychology Award, and recognition of service to the Association.

The 2008 Awards Banquet was held at the Anchorage Museum with catering by Marx Bros.  All AK-PA members are invited to attend.

Dr. Behnke, Director of the American Psychological Association Ethics Office, presented an ethics workshop earlier in the day. Ruddy Taylor is also AK-PA's APA Graduate Students (APAGS) Representive.

Senator Lisa Murkowski receives the Friend of Psychology Award from Dr. Robert Lane, AK-PA's Federal Advocacy Coordinator.

Senator Murkowski was recognized for her support of providers and consumers of mental health services in Alaska and particularly for her support of Medicare reform and of the Domenici-Wellstone Mental Health Parity Act.  Previously awarded to leaders in the Alaska state legislature, Senator Murkowski is the first federal delegate to be so honored by the association.”

The award reads, "In Appreciation of Your Hard Work to Further the Profession of Psychology for Consumers and Providers."

In her acceptance of the award, Sen. Murkowski spoke of the importance of providing mental health services to returning troops.

The award reads, "In Appreciation of Your Hard Work to bring to Alaska Culturally Relevant Services and to Further the Profession of Psychology for Consumers and Providers."

Dr. Jennifer Beathe, AK-PA's outgoing Treasurer and current Member-at-Large, received a Service Award in absentia.

The award reads, "The award reads, "In Grateful Appreciation of Service Given to AK-PA and Specifically for Your Dedicated Work as AKPA's Treasurer 2006-2008."

The award reads, “The Phil Baker Award for Meritorious Service – For years of exemplary service to AK-PA at both the state and national levels.”

The award reads, "In Grateful Appreication of Exceptional Service given to AKPA and the Profession and Practice of Psychology Over Many Years."
