Peter Strisik, Ph.D.

Dr. Peter StrisikDr. Strisik. has been working in the mental health field since 1981 and has been a Licensed Psychologist since 1990. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Georgia State University, was known for emphasis and quality in training psychotherapists. It's primary clinical faculty were well-known in particular for their work in Experiential, Gestalt, and Humanistic traditions. He completed his Internship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, also the training site for Stanford Medical School Residents.

From 1990 to 2000, Dr. Strisik worked primarily in private practice in Stockbridge, Georgia where he was also active in a private psychiatric hospital as Vice President of the Medical Staff, and as a consultant to the county medical health center. In 1995, he founded "Horizon Center." a well respected group of Psychotherapists and Psychiatrists that still serves that community today.

Dr. Strisik currently practices independently in Anchorage with emphasis in individual and couples psychotherapy, consultation, and psychological assessment. His approach in therapy is strongly "process oriented" drawing from humanistic, existential, experiential, and interpersonal traditions.  He has been involved with AK-PA since his arrival in Alaska in 2000, first as member, then as member-at-large, and now by developing and maintaining the organization's website and managing the email discussion lists.
