Jennifer Beathe, Psy.D.

Jennifer Beathe, Psy.D.Dr. Beathe is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She teaches courses in ethics, clinical supervision, and multicultural assessment in the graduate programs. Additionally, Dr. Beathe is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice.

Dr. Beathe completed an American Psychological Association internship in the assessment and treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine, working at the award-winning UCSF/SFGH Trauma Recovery Center in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Beathe specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, primarily trauma-based disorders. She works with adult survivors of abuse and assault, survivors of war, and people who want to reduce their stress and increase their sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. Dr. Beathe conducts psychological evaluations, individual and couples psychotherapy, group therapy, and community trainings. Dr. Beathe incorporates cognitive behavioral interventions, skills training, and relaxation techniques into her work with clients. She also provides clinical supervision for therapists in training.

Dr. Beathe is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and Psychologists for Social Responsibility. Dr. Beathe was elected to AK-PA’s Board of Directors in 2006.
